An Introduction to the
Bach Flower Remedies
& the work of Dr Edward Bach
Simple, natural and gentle acting,
the Bach Flower Remedies provide a wonderful tool
to help our inherent ability to
restore balance & harmony within ourselves.

Discovering the Bach Flower Remedies
Edward Bach trained as a medical doctor in England during the early part of the twentieth century. The focus of his life's work was his great desire to find a simple and effective form of treatment that would be available for all to use and understand.
With a vision way ahead of most of his contemporaries, he understood that the true cause of physical disharmony lay in the personality - in the mental and emotional patterns through which we view ourselves and the world around us.
To treat these personality patterns he discovered and developed the 38 remedies that today we know as the Bach Flower Remedies.
The 38 Bach Flower Remedies...
Each Bach Flower Remedy contains a positive natural energy or vibration, which can be used to gently re-balance those states of mind and emotion that cause our difficulties in life. Since the body is a direct reflection of the mind, transforming negative vibrations into positive vibrations allows the body to find its own natural healthy balance.
The Bach Remedies work to re-balance the issues in the personality that are at a surface level in our awareness, so are particularly helpful in treating how we are thinking and feeling in the moment.
You can use the remedies individually or mixed together in a combination of 6-8 remedies. We recommend 8 x a day for chronic states and every 30-60 minutes for acute states, reverting to the normal dosage when more balance has returned.
Making Bach Flower Remedies...
Dr. Bach left very specific instructions on how to make the Bach Flower Remedies, and it was it desire that everyone should have access to a set, whether one they had purchased or one that they had made themselves. You can find details on how the Bach Flower Remedies are made in both 'The Twelve Healers & Other Remedies' ( Dr. Bachs original work ) and 'The Healing Herbs of Edward Bach' by Julian Barnard ( a very instructive book offering both instructions in the making process and also help with identifying the relevant flowers).
Taking Bach Remedies... Bach Flower Remedies can be taken by everyone, including children, babies, animals and plants - safely and without fear of side effects, overdosing or addiction(*nb). While they are not intended to replace medical treatment where necessary, they can be used in conjunction with, and to complement, any other form of treatment.
You can find advice and more information on choosing and using the Bach Flower Remedies here.
See essences for children page for more guidance on how to use for babies & children.
* NB- Bach Flower Remedies are preserved in brandy, so please be cautious if you have issues around the use of alcohol.
