Peace from Within
7th November , 2006
The United Nations International World Peace day takes place on the 21st September each year. The day was adopted by the UN in 2001, and focuses on developing and fostering the idea of world peace and encourages all countries to promote global peace and harmony, for at least one day in the year.
There is no doubt that the world as a whole is very much in need of creating greater Peace, Balance & Harmony, probably more now than at any other time before, but how can we as individuals help with this? Actually, in many respects we are all in a very good position to help!
Recipe for Peace
Positive change and evolution almost always spreads from the grassroots up – starting with individuals and small groups and then going onto a broader cross section of society before it is then taken up as a national issue ( there’s perhaps no better example of this at the moment than that of the current political uptake of important environmental issues which individuals and groups have been talking about for many, many years. ) It is the same for Peace. Peace starts with each of us as individuals. We can only truly create Peace in our world if we as individuals are able to create peace within ourselves.
Creating this greater sense of Peace and Harmony within ourselves as individuals really means looking to see where there is conflict and disharmony within at the moment. How do we truly feel inside? What are our core beliefs and thought patterns? This process is important because our thoughts and feelings, which are “energy in motion”, are ‘radiated’ out from us and form our contribution to the group energy that helps to co-create our society.
Within each of us there can be many conflicting emotions and thoughts which can create ‘disharmony’ or a lack of inner peace within us. Shifting and releasing these core patterns, whether its fear, guilt, separation, grief or doubt etc helps us to feel greater peace and harmony within – in fact releasing our inner conflicts. This means that the ‘energetic ripple’ that we contribute to society is one of greater peace and harmony. If we all as individuals start to do this, you can begin to imagine what positive things we could create as a society…..
There are many healing modalities that can help you with this process of connecting with the issues that you need to work on within, Flower Essences are just one of them. However, no matter which modality you use to help, creating a world peace day within yourself everyday would go a long way to creating a more balanced world!
