Reclaiming Your Personal Authority

Luffa Flower

January is often a time when we pause to review where we are in life as well as setting our direction for the coming twelve months. The energies are currently directing us to review our foundations in life to ensure that they will fully support the process of transformation that we will be engaged with over the coming twelve months.

A particularly important aspect of our foundation that we could consider as we check in this month is that of personal authority. A good question to ask yourself might be; how much do I occupy the driving seat of my life? For many of us this is still somewhat of a work in progress and something that the energy flow this month could well bring into greater awareness.

Check Your Family Patterns

If you find that you struggle to fully be the authority in your own life, inherited family patterns can be a good place to look for the source of any unconscious restriction to your personal power.

If you find that you constantly struggle to be the authority figure in your own life, check out unconscious family patterns for the source of the restriction in your personal power.

Family situations are chosen by design to offer maximum growth and expansion for everyone involved, although it might not feel like that if we find ourselves at the sharp end of difficult and challenging relationships. Sometimes the patterns we agreed to play out in our family group involved closing ourselves down and giving up our seniority in order to fit in.

While this may have seemed necessary at the time it is now no longer valid, and it is very much time for us to take back our power and become the authority in our own life.

Making Change

Reclaiming our personal authority might involve overturning some family taboos or standing up for ourselves in a way that feels initially uncomfortable. It might also mean accepting that we are not responsible for keeping the peace or making everything alright for everybody else at the expense of ourselves. Above all it means giving ourselves permission to be ourselves without restriction.

Remember that the process of change is not about ego power struggles, blame or judgement it is just a simple choice to release any unconscious patterns that you might have that keep you acting out old, disempowering behaviour loops.

Connect to the consciousness of your heart and allow your wisdom and intuition to guide you as you make any necessary adjustments this month.
