May is always a particularly beautiful month and despite the extremely varied and somewhat unusual weather we have had over the last month the countryside around us is now looking resplendent with blossom and new vibrant green growth. A promise of long, hot summer days ahead? We do hope so!

The Energies of May
May is the month particularly associated with the forces of spiritual enlightenment and the great eastern spiritual master Gautama Buddha. It is said that the Buddha was born, reached enlightenment and died under the influence of the sign of Taurus.
Each year the second great spiritual festival of the year, the Festival of Wesak, the Buddha’s Festival, is celebrated at the full moon when the sun is in Taurus, which this year was on April 29th. During this festival the blessings of the second Ray of Love and Wisdom are offered to the world in a ceremony that takes place on the etheric planes over the Wesak Valley in Tibet. Over recent years our capacity to receive and integrate this gift has steadily increased and we are now able to absorb greater quantities of light and love than ever before.
This year’s Wesak offering was a particularly potent one and it has created a perfect pathway into a month that is promising plenty of other powerful energies, some of which could feel challenging to negotiate if we do not remember to stay focused and alert to new opportunity.
The cosmos is bringing us some potent planetary alignments this month, which will be supportive of expansion of consciousness, freedom and revolutionary change. This sounds good and just what we have been waiting for, however keep in mind that the process of transformation that this energy might trigger could well reach deep into the realms of things we consider necessary for our comfort and security.
The Influence of Taurus
The sun moved into Taurus on April 20th beginning a month-long period during which it will act as a powerful magnifier for the energies flowing into the Earth from the constellation of Taurus.
In western astrology, the earthy feminine energies of Taurus are represented by the sign of the bull. They bring forward the principle of illumination and offer the potential to see beyond the illusions of time and space.
Within the energies of Taurus there is both the power of creativity and an element of potent magnetic attraction which amplifies the desire to create. In its highest form this energy seeks to blend and harmonise all aspects of creation in beauty and love. It is aligned with the forces of enlightenment that remind us of the need to ‘to be in the world but not of the world’, so that we can turn the magnetic power of ‘desire’ into a force that will help to bring positive transformation to the many areas of life that currently require resolution.
Dealing With Change
It might feel as though we have already been dealing with change for quite some time now and certainly that is true, however the focus of the energies this month and of those going forward over the next few months, seem set to expand this even further.
The cosmos is bringing us some potent planetary alignments this month, which will be supportive of expansion of consciousness, freedom and revolutionary change
To some degree we are sailing into unchartered waters as far as this next level of change and transformation is concerned, however it is obvious that there are a growing number of issues in the world that urgently require new and innovative solutions.
An ability to ‘think out of the box’ and allow what is no longer working to be disassembled and reassembled in a new form is going to be crucial for success with this. Positive though this process ultimately is, we should perhaps be aware that it could well test our abilities to be detached and resourceful in ways we have not yet encountered. So, one of the questions we could usefully contemplate over the next few weeks might be; ‘how prepared am I to deal with fundamental change?
If this question triggers off a sense of insecurity and worry at some level within you, then now would be a good time to look at it more closely. We have all become accustomed to life presenting itself to us in a familiar shape and format. This has created unconscious expectations which have become part of our personal comfort zone and provided us with a certain sense of security in life.
Often our identity is tied up with the things we have come to rely upon, for instance our possessions, our job, our bank account, our relationships, our home etc. In this situation it is difficult for us not to resist change because it appears that it will shake the foundations of our identity in too drastic a fashion.
It would be helpful this month to take some time out to review how much you are aligned with your core being and to review anywhere you might have become too externally focussed. Use the flow of transformational energies available to you this month to make any adjustments necessary so that more of your empowered, creative, multidimensional self can come to the fore.
We will need all the empowered detachment that we can muster to help us ride the next waves of change with some degree of ease and grace.
Essence Suggestions for May
To be comfortable dealing with change we need to feel secure within ourselves, confident of our ability to tap into those resources available to us from our own inner connection.
Without this stable inner foundation, it can be difficult to remain detached enough to allow what is old to release and change into something more appropriate.
With this in mind let’s start this month’s essence suggestions with some combinations to help enhance your connection with your core self. This is a connection found in the still, peaceful space of the heart, beyond the noisy chattering of the everyday mind. For most of us opening and expanding the heart is an ongoing process that requires our consistent attention if we are to stay connected. Either Heart Chakra, Unconditional Love, Awakening the Heart or Inner Wisdom; connecting heart & mind would provide general support here.
Very often opening the heart can take us into some painful places, as the old issues that made us feel we needed to close it down to protect ourselves dissolve and release. Letting Go; dissolving attachment, Open to Receive; creating abundance, & Healing Bereavement; transforming grief are all combinations that can be helpful to ease this process.
It can be very hard to stay connected to our core being if at some level we are still unable to fully love and accept ourselves just the way we are. Many of us struggle with this, forgetting to look beyond the filter of old perceptions and inherited patterning that mask the perfection of our true selves. Checkout Self-Acceptance; restoring unconditionality, Feeling Worthy; transforming unworthiness, Inner Certainty; transforming doubt, Forgiveness; transforming guilt & Inner Freedom; transforming judgement to see which would most help you to allow greater self-love and appreciation into your life.
If the idea of fundamental change makes you feel a little apprehensive then possibly there are still a few hidden fears in need of transformation. In this situation either Inner Calm; transforming fear Feeling Safe; trusting life Base Chakra or the Strength & Courage Spray; overcoming fear might be just what you need to help dissolve them.
Lastly, a wonderful combination to help support you through the process of change in all its many guises; New Horizons; supporting change. This is a great combination for anyone who feels in need of help to negotiate the challenges of change, however they may present themselves.
